Transformative Pathways
Empowering communities through skill development, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion
Basic Skills Training
- The Basic Skills Training (BST) programme provides language, computer and personality development training to adult women and youth (both boys and girls) with little or no formal education. Coming from the lower socio-economic strata, these individuals either never went to school or had to discontinue their formal education due to financial or other personal constraints.
- The BST programme was started with the aim to impart basic language skills and life skills to enable such individuals begin the learning process once again and improve their skills at a pace comfortable to them and in a manner suitable to them. Audio-visual tools, activity-based learning and classroom learning sessions are combined to make the learning process engaging and interesting.
- Through various training modules, we are working on holistic development of the youth from disadvantaged communities by improving their communication skills, building their self-confidence, providing computer training and training them in relevant employability skills.
At ArunaSocial Foundation we believe everyone deserves a second chance, whether it is to improve their skills or to begin their journey towards financial independence. Age and circumstances are not limiting factors if there is sufficient motivation and proper guidance.

As a result, these women become more aware of their capabilities, self-reliant, and financially independent, paving the way for a brighter future for themselves and their families. The ripple effect of this empowerment extends to their communities, inspiring others and contributing to overall social and economic development.
Foundational Digital Literacy
The problem being addressed is the digital exclusion of India’s low-income population, particularly women, caused by lack of awareness, inadequate education, scarce resources, and limited exposure to digital platforms compounded by fear of sharing information on the digital space. Youth and adolescents, being highly active on digital platforms, face heightened risks of online threats.
Women, especially from low-income communities, often experience digital exclusion and are more vulnerable to online harassment. Individuals with physical disabilities struggle to access livelihood opportunities due to mobility issues, limiting their social and economic participation.
Key Challenges Addressed:
- Low digital literacy levels
- Limited access to digital devices and connectivity
- Social and cultural barriers
- Limited knowledge regarding the benefits of using the internet
- Lack of awareness about available economic opportunities
By overcoming these barriers, women, youth and individuals with physical disabilities gain access to knowledge, opportunities, and networks that enhance their independence and economic participation.

Economic Empowerment
The program has emerged as a powerful catalyst for economic empowerment, enabling marginalized women and youth to rise above challenges such as limited education, minimal work experience, and lack of digital exposure. By opening pathways to dignified income opportunities and meaningful employment, it has helped participants take confident steps toward financial independence.
Unleashing Potential
Training and skilling initiatives have unlocked the hidden potential of women and youth from low-income communities, empowering them to craft high-quality handcrafted products. With enhanced skills and confidence, they are now exploring better livelihood opportunities, breaking economic barriers, and redefining their futures.
